Mr Moses Olorunfemi, the Proprietor of Basic Standard Nursery and Primary School in Ilorin, says there is now more than before the need for conducive learning environment for students.

Olorunfemi told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilorin on Sunday that students deserve to learn and study in a safe and conducive environment.

He said it was lamentable that some schools’ environment were not safe enough to train students.

“I urge school proprietors and proprietresses to ensure a safe and healthy environment for their students.

“Ensure you fumigate the environment before resumption of a new term. Ensure the environment is neat and not bushy.

“When the environment is not well taken care of, it is dangerous for students and even their teachers.

“Beware of reptiles and dangerous animals. Students deserve a conducive learning environment, rather than sharing classrooms with reptiles,” Olorunfemi advised.

The proprietor also called on education stakeholders to ensure both public and private schools were well monitored for safety purposes.

He, however, advised proprietors to prioritise students’ safety and not only think about money and quality education.

“Quality education is necessary but you need to guarantee their safety to allow the students focus,” Olorunfemi said.
