Eid-el-Maulud: Shaibu felicitates Muslim faithful, urges prayer for Edo government

Benin, Edo.

The Edo State Deputy Governor, Comrade Philip Shaibu, on Wednesday felicitated Muslim faithful in Nigeria, particularly those in Edo State, following the celebrations of this year’s Eid-el-Maulud.

Eid-el-Maulud is an annual event, celebrated by Muslims all over the world, in commemoration of the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Shaibu, in a statement he personally signed, called for prayers for the present administration in Edo to finish well and strong.

He said “It is my honour and privilege to heartily felicitate Muslim faithful in Nigeria, particularly their Edo counterparts, as they join their Muslim brothers and sisters in celebrating this year’s Eid-el-Maulud.

“I am delighted to note that this auspicious occasion in commemoration of the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad, has become a global event for adherents of Islam.

“At the moment, our dear country, Nigeria, is going through a critical phase in its development as a nation of multi–ethic and multi-religious people with diverse traditional and cultural identities.

“Though tribe and tongue may differ, permit me to admonish our Muslim brothers and sisters to imbibe the virtues of love, tolerance, sacrifice and mutual co-existence as exhibited by the Holy Prophet.

“More than ever before, we should reflect as a people bound together by God and destiny in our collective quest to fulfill the dreams of our founding fathers.

“As a state, may l enjoin our people, Muslims, Christians and practioners of other religions not to relent in praying for the peace and progress of our dear state,” he said.

According to him, “let us also continue to pray for the the present administration, under the leadership of our purposeful Governor, Mr. Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki, for the administration to end well and finish strong.

“Once again, l congratulate all Muslim faithful in Nigeria and Edo State,” Shaibu added.
