The Dreams From The Slum (DFTS), a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), has reaffirmed its commitment to services to humanity with the empowerment of over 100,000 persons directly since inception.

The Founder DFTS, Mr Isaac Omoyele, disclosed this at the organisation’s 10th anniversary on Saturday in Lagos

Omoyele said the NGO was founded in 2013 with the aim of empowering the less privileged.

He said the number of empowered persons cut across seven states, adding that 50 people would be graduating from the school of fashion, make up and photography.

“DFTS NGO has three tenets which are education, empowerment and mentoring.

“It started simply to make dreams of people living in the slum a reality using education, empowerment and mentorship.

“Ajegunle, here in Lagos, is where the major work is actually taking place,” he said.

Omoyele said he was born and bred in Ajegunle and the whole initiative started there which was a way of giving back to society.

He said his focus aroused from the passion of making dreams come through, passion to give back and help people.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, Mr Mobolaji Ogunlende, said the NGO was doing something magical, exciting and interesting.

Ogunlende described the work as a selfless service which could be challenging at times.

He noted the NGO was focusd and committed to the plight of the vulnerable against all odds.

Also, Oba Mohammadu Moroof Oyekunle Atanda Amodu-Tijani Oluwa, Apapa kingdom, said the NGO had been consistent in the kind gesture of taking children off the streets in the last 10 years.

“If we have about 10 or 20 of Isaac in this local government, it would be better.

“So, Isaac I say thank you because you are doing what so many people cannot do,” he said.

Also speaking, Mr Lucky Uduikhue, the Vice Chairman, Ajeromi Ifelodun Local Government Area, commended the NGO for the initiative aimed at supporting the less privileged.

Uduikhue on behalf of the local government appreciated and thanked the founder for the good works stressing that God would continue to bless him to give back to society and the less privileged.

One of the graduants, Miss Elizabeth Adewusi, said she got to know about the training classes from a whatsapp group and she opted for photography class.

Adewusi said her motivation for learning photography was to tell stories of untouched topics through photography.
