Retirement should always be celebrated, Immigration official says

The Comptroller of Immigration in Kwara, Compt. Aminu Shamsuddin, on Friday in Ilorin advised that retirement should be a thing of joy and a great pleasure.

Shamsuddin gave the advice during a programme to celebrate the retirement of Alhaji Baba Aliyu, the Passport Comptroller at the Kwara Command of Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).

“Retirement should be celebrated because many people have dropped out on the way due to death and without having the opportunity of celebrating,” he said.

The Kwara Command Comptroller described Aliyu as a diligent, hardworking, honest and contented person.

”He was dedicated, industrious and disciplined while in service, and will be greatly missed.

“I pray that you have a well-deserved retirement life style, full of God’s grace and mercies.

Responding, Aliyu thanked the Comptroller in Kwara for organising such a befitting retirement party in his honour.

He also thanked him for his usual support throughout his stay in the service in Ilorin, as well as all the Passport Office personnel in llorin for their consistent support.

“I can only advise the service personnel to always allow honesty, diligence, discipline and commitment be their guiding principle while performing their duties,” Aliyu said.

Aliyu started his career with the NIS in 1989 as a senior officer, and was first posted to the Kano state command in 1991.

He served in Jigawa, the Service headquarters in Abuja and the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

Aliyu was posted to Ilorin in August 2022 as the Passport Comptroller.
